Chelmford resident showcases her left-handed paintings
A resident at Genesis’ City Park West development in Chelmsford wowed local art-lovers on Tuesday evening with a showcase of paintings of the development and surrounding site.
Bridget Metcalfe’s vivid watercolour paintings were a big draw at the exhibition at the new Transition Gallery in the development’s Anne Knight Building. She began painting the views from the windows of an apartment with her left hand after breaking her right wrist last year.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Chelmsford were among over a hundred guests who attended the exhibition launch on Tuesday evening. Staff from Genesis and City Park West contractor Higgins Construction also attended the event, which featured paintings from other local artists alongside Bridget’s work.
Speaking after the event, Bridget said: “The Transition is a great place in the centre of Chelmsford for work, art and socialising. Exhibitions will feature new and more established artists.”
City Park West will offer nearly 650 mixed tenure homes including shared ownership, rental and extra care units in the centre of Chelmsford once the second phase is completed in 2018. The scheme, which started on site in 2012, has also delivered new green space and commercial units, and has sympathetically restored three historic buildings including the Anne Knight Building, a former Quaker meeting house.
A new collection of brand new one and two bedroom apartments will soon be available to rent or buy with Shared Ownership. For further information or to arrange a viewing, please call 01245 806484 or visit www.genesishahomes.org.uk.
We will be holding an art exhibition later on in the year. If you are an artist, please keep and eye out for this, as it would be great to see your work.
